Dettol-Channel i Porichchonno Bangladesh launched

The ‘Dettol-Channel i Porichchonno Bangladesh’ Campaign is being launched nationwide to spread awareness regarding well-being and hygiene among the people of the country. People from all walks of life are being called to participate in the campaign which was launched on February 9, 2017.

This information was given out in a press conference held at the Hotel Westin on 09 February, 2017. Present in the conference were representatives of Channel i, representatives from Reckitt Benckiser (makers of Dettol), their partners for this campaign Professor Abdullah Abu PictureSayeed, Founder of Bishwo Shahittyo Kendra, Professor Dr Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan, President of Bangladesh Private Medical Practitioners Association (BPMPA) and members from media.

A lack of hygiene and awareness about hygiene causes not only loss of productivity but also loss of lives. Dettol and Channel i have brought out this campaign with this goal of creating hygiene awareness in the minds of the people. Under this campaign, they will educate both directly and through mass media. The target is to reach at least 80 million people of the country through mass media and social media with the hygiene awareness each year. At the same time, 5 million people will be given direct education by the year 2020.  Dettol Bangladesh and Channel i together have pledged to invest 100,000 man hours behind this project in the next four years. Under this campaign, an e-module both in Bangla and in English will be introduced for school goers, to educate them when they are young.

Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Channel i said, “Channel i is always vocal about the people and the country. Likewise, Dettol Bangladesh has also undertaken a campaign which will benefit the people of the country. We are very happy to be a part of such a wonderful campaign like ‘Porichchonno Bangladesh’. We hope that this campaign will work as a milestone to create awareness regarding hygiene practices amongst people and will help towards creating a hygienic Bangladesh”.

Syed Tanzim Rezwan, spokesperson of Dettol Bangladesh said, “Health risks is avoidable just by changing some easy daily habits and making people aware about keeping the environment clean. Dettol Bangladesh has been working from its inception to create such an aware Bangladesh. As a part of that vision, we have launched the ‘Porichchonno Bangladesh’ campaign, so we can contribute towards building a healthier Bangladesh in the future. We are expecting participation of citizens from all walks of life in this campaign”.

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed and Professor Dr Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan also extended their support to the great cause and extended personal and organizational support.
