35 Sokoto students Leave for Bangladesh

Thirty-five students from Sokoto State being sponsored by the state government to study science at the International Islamic University in Chittong, Bangladesh, left Sokoto yesterday with a charge by Governor Aliyu Wamakko to excel in their pursuit.

A representative of the governor, the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Prof. Musa Maitafsir, bade the students farewell as they departed the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, en route Bangladesh, saying: “You should not disappoint your parents, the people of the state and government as well as Nigeria.”

He said the sponsorship initiative was part of efforts to boost education in the state. Their courses include Medicine, Pharmacy, Computer and Electrical Engineering among others.
