The 7th Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad began at Curzon Hall, University of Dhaka on January 13, 2017, Friday. MA Mannan MP, state minister for Finance & Planning inaugurated the Olympiad as chief guest. Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS) with sponsorship of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited organized the Olympiad.
Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and Professor Syed Ahsanul Alam, Vice Chairman of Islami Bank addressed the ceremony as special guests. 
MA Mannan, MP, State Minister for Finance and Planning, in his speech as chief guest said, the country’s educated and young generation will highlight Bengali civilization in the world stage through their creativity and scientific innovation. He said, this Chemistry Olympiad will help expand the horizon of basic science education across the country. This Olympiad will also play role in increasing the students’ interest towards science education and remove their fear in this discipline.
Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, in his speech said, Chemistry Olympiad will increase interest in science education, creativity, knowledge and competitiveness among students. Through this Olympiad, a strong network will be created among young students, which will contribute to their workplace.
Special guest Professor Syed Ahsanul Alam, Vice Chairman of Islami Bank said, Chemistry Olympiad will play significant role in expanding a science and technology based generation in the country. The youths participating in the Olympiad will build the future of Bangladesh. Islami Bank has sponsored the Chemistry Olympiad for creating learning opportunities, competitive environment in perusing science education among students. This Olympiad will strengthen the confidence of the students, he hopped and said, the Bank will play more effective role in expanding science education in the days to come.
