Ali Riaz presents book on Bangladesh at UC-Berkeley

Department of Politics and Government Chair Ali Riaz speaks about his new book on Bangladesh’s political history at the University of California-Berkeley.

Department of Politics and Government Chair Ali Riaz spoke October 18 at the Center for Bangladesh Studies at the University of California-Berkeley about his new book, titled Bangladesh: A Political History since Independence.

Riaz said in his presentation that writing the history of Bangladesh has become challenging task because all regimes since independence have tried to create an official narrative and any digression from this narrative has been seen as “unpatriotic.”

Professor Abhishek Kaicker described the book as “an in-depth, insightful exposition” of the history of the nation.
