The Asia Foundation, Bangladesh will host a map-up event for the upcoming city corporation elections (CCEs) in the capital, in partnership with the OpenStreetMap (OSM) in Bangladesh. 
40 volunteers from OpenStreetMap (OSM) will be deployed on April 4, 2015, early morning with checklists and will visit each of the polling stations to collect the longitude and latitude of the individual locations, along with a photo. The information will then be collated and made available to inform mapping projects such as the <www.citycorpelections.org> website. The mapping application will provide useful information for voters to find where their polling station is, and can also be used to provide information relating electoral results at a later date.
Prior to the deployment of the OpenStreetMap (OSM) volunteers on the 4th April, they will receive an orientation on the mapping exercise on the April 3, 2015, regarding how to collect the geospatial data through an app, how to record the data for later aggregation.
This event is a great example of ways that young people can become involved in the electoral process and to strengthen democracy in Bangladesh using the latest technology. It will provide many opportunities for dynamic photo shots and video of the volunteers in action throughout Dhaka.
