Bangladesh has urged the development partners to stand beside it to cope with the adverse effects of climate change.
The call was made on the sidelines of an event, titled ‘Climate Initiatives of Bangladesh: Sharing the Experience of Finance, Adaptation and Mitigation’ organised by Bangladesh at Warsaw Stadium in Poland on the 8th day of Warsaw Climate Change Summit 2013 on Monday.
“So, Bangladesh wants its development partners to stand beside it in this regard (fund management).”
LDC chair Prokash Mathema (Nepal, member of Bangladesh delegation and Vice Chancellor of Brac University Dr Ainun Nishat, managing director of PKSF Abdul Karim and managing director of Climate Change Trust Fund Didarul Ahsan, among others, spoke at the programme held with Environment and Forests secretary Shafiqur Rahman Patwari in the chair.
The speakers lauded Bangladesh for taking various steps for mitigating climate change-related impacts.
Kicked off on November 11, the Warsaw Climate Change Conference ends on November 22.
