BWDB has signed two contract agreements on 16.04.13 with the Joint Venture organization Ellicott Dredges LLC, USA and Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd., the biggest leading shipbuilding & exporting organization of Bangladesh, for the manufacture and supply of 2 (two) sets of 20” Cutting Suction Dredgers and Ancillary Equipment & Spares under the Manufacturing & Supply Of Dredger & Ancillary Equipment Project.
Recently a high power inspection team of 6 (six) members visited the various equipments & components of the Dredgers such as dredge pumps, main engines of dredge pumps etc in the Ellicott Dredges LLC’s USA plant, and upon completion of inspection they have jointly issued a Certificate of Conformance.
Abdullah Nahid Niger , Deputy Managing Director, Ananda Shipyard & Slipways has highlighted that Ellicott Dredges LLC developed these 2 (two) new technology dredgers and acquired the approval of the classification society. Considerable amount of time and cost are spent in the development of this new technology dredgers. But these new developed dredgers will be able to economically beneficial for Water Development Board & Bangladesh since they are capable to dredge more and with less fuel. Ananda Shipyard & Ellicott Dredges are working relentlessly in order to deliver these dredgers on time. By keeping the rivers of Bangladesh navigable & improving the inland water routes, environment-friendly & economical water routes could be extended by implementing this Dredger procurement project in accordance with the Prime Minister’s guidelines.
