Schedule Two Months Before Polls
When pressed by journalists about the exact date, Ahmed said, “We are working to publish the election schedule two months before voting takes place. While the polling date has not yet been finalised, the schedule will definitely be announced 60 days beforehand.”
Polls Likely Before Ramadan
He also hinted at a likely timeframe, noting that the office of the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government had directed the EC to hold the polls before the upcoming Ramadan.
“As things stand, Ramadan may begin on 17, 18, or 19 February, depending on the moon sighting. You may make your own calculations,” he told reporters.
Dialogue with Parties to Begin in Late September
The roadmap outlines 24 key steps in the lead-up to the election. Among them, dialogue with political parties and stakeholders will begin in the last week of September and is expected to wrap up within four to six weeks.
Voter List and Demarcation Deadlines Set
The EC also plans to finalise constituency boundaries by 30 September, complete political party registration by the end of the same month, and publish the final voter list by late November.
With the roadmap now unveiled, the countdown to the polls has officially begun — setting the stage for heightened political activity and preparations among parties and voters in the months ahead.
