In a video released on Tuesday (August 6) the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement announced that Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus will be the chief adviser of their proposed interim government. This announcement was echoed on Facebook by three coordinators, including Nahid Islam.
As of now, Dr. Yunus has not made any public statement regarding this matter.
The protest leaders also called for calm during the transition period. Their latest statement, issued just hours after promising a roadmap for forming an interim government within 24 hours, indicated the urgency of their announcement due to the ongoing volatile situation.
Nahid mentioned that the remaining members of the proposed interim government would be revealed later in the morning, emphasizing that they would not accept any government acting against the people’s interests.
