IUB hosts Dhaka-North regional round of Physics Olympiad

The Department of Physical Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the “Physics Olympiad 2025 Dhaka North Regional Round” with a closing ceremony and prize distribution event on February 14, 2025, at the university auditorium.

IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Prof. Dr. Naureen Ahsan and Prof. Dr. Khandker Saadat Hossain from the Department of Physics at the University of Dhaka. Also present were Dr. Habib Bin Muzaffar, Dean of IUB’s School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences; Dr. Farhad Alam, Head of the Department of Physical Sciences; along with guests and faculty members.

 In his remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Tamim emphasized the importance of nurturing students’ interest and skills in physics and distributed prizes among the winners.

 More than 1,000 students from over 300 schools and colleges participated in the competition. Around 350 participants across four categories were selected to advance to the national-level competition.
