Ruben Eloy Arosemena Valdes, the Panama Ambassador to Korea Republic accompanied with his spouse Ana Lorena on Friday visited the International Maritime Academy (IMA) at Gazipur. Commandant of the Academy received the ambassador while a guard of honour was accorded to the ambassador by the senior cadets of the Academy.
The ambassador visited the facilities of the campus including the newly commissioned fire-fighting complex with the smoke chamber for simulating advanced fire fighting techniques.
The ambassador expressed interest in the activities of the academy including the curriculum followed and assured the academy of all possible assistance on behalf of his government to facilitate the employment of Bangladesh seafarers in Panama flag vessels.
It is here mentionable that Emdadul Haque Chowdhury who is also the Managing Director of Haque & Sons Ltd, one of the largest crew management shipping companies in Bangladesh, has recently been appointed as the ‘Liaison Officer’ of Panama for maritime affairs in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
