Per capita loan stands at about Tk 12,700

Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said each citizen of Bangladesh carries foreign loan of nearly Tk 12,700 (US $162.2).

The amount of foreign credit taken by Bangladesh on June 30 last year was Tk 195,146 crore (US $ 24,907 million), he told Parliament on Thursday replying to a starred question from Ayen Uddin MP of Rajshahi-3.

In the 2012-13 fiscal year, Bangladesh paid some Tk 2148 crore against the interest of the foreign loans, while paid back Tk 27,545 crore as principal amount from the loans.
