The country received $ 1.319 billion in remittance during the month of September this year, up from $1.174 billion than in August 2014.
With the September’s amount, the country’s total remittance earning till September 30 reached $3.985 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year fiscal year 2014-15. The total remittance in fiscal 2013-14 was $14.228 billion.
The central bank statistics show that Bangladesh received $442.51 million in remittance through four state-owned commercial banks—Agrani, Janata, Rupali and Sonali banks—while state-owned specialised banks received $17.04 million.
The highest remittance of $845.52 million, however, came through the private sector banks among whom Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) made the major contribution of $331.31 million.
The IBBL was followed by National Bank Limited’s $64.71 million and Uttara Bank’s $60.26 million.
