Seminar on electoral management held at JU

A seminar on ‘The Electoral Violence, Administration and Management’ was held at the seminar room of Public Administration (PA) Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Monday.

In association with Election Working Group (EWG) of Asia Foundation, JU Public Administration department organized the seminar while founder chairman of the department also member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Professor Dr. M Abul Kashem Mozumder addressed the programme as the chief guest.

Presided over by Muhammad Sayadur Rahman, chairman of PA, the Director of EWG Dr. Md. Abdul Alim presented key notes on the topic.

The speakers here said that there is no need for care taker government in Bangladesh to hold a free, fair and fearless election if there exists a politically and financially independent Election Commission.

‘The reason behind the violence during the election is the competition of power to capture the political power’, they added.

They also stressed on the participative election for holding the credible election in Bangladesh where all party would take part in the election without any discrimination.

Among others, Assistant Professor of the department Muhammad Muinul Islam, Muhammad Ashraful Haque, Jebunnessa, Halima Haque, Farhana Afroze, Lecturer Nusrat Jahan Arefin, Moniruddin Shikder, Ahsan Abdullah, Mahfujur Rahman and more than 50 students of the department were took part the seminar while Lecturer Mst. Sahiba Mahbub conducted over the seminar.
