JU teachers, students protest Rajon’s murder
The teachers and the students of Jahangirnagar University formed a human chain protesting the killing of Samiul Alam Rajon, a 13-year old boy who was tortured to death mercilessly at Kumargaon in Sylhet on July 8.
Dikkha, a students’ organisation, works for the right of street children organized the 
programme while the teachers and students of the university took part in the protest programme held at central Shaheed Minar primses.

Former DU Professor Dr. Fazlul Huq dies
Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Huq, Former Professor of Soil Science at Dhaka University passed away in his sleep on Thursday morning at a local hospital. At the time of death his age was 93 years.
Dr. Huq was born in Baufal Thana of Barisal district in 1921. His parents hailed from Chauddagram thana of Comilla district. He was a student of Chemistry at Dhaka University and completed his MSc. In 1943. While at Dhaka University he was University Blue in 1941 for being 
the best Athelete at the University that year.

US Professor calls on DU VC
Prof Dr Pranab K Sen of the North Carolina University, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Thursday at the latter’s office. Prof Dr Md Amir Hossain of the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) of DU was present on this occasion.
