US-Bangla Airlines to use Bombardier Q400s

Dhaka-based US-Bangla Airlines has acquired two second-hand Bombardier Q400s turboprop aircraft, which it operate on domestic routes from late March or April 2014.

“The Q400 aircraft was selected by US-Bangla Airlines as the best aircraft to provide reliable, comfortable and affordable air transportation to passengers,” said Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun, managing director of US-Bangla Airlines. “We will work to open new markets and create greater connectivity in our region.”

Based at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, US-Bangla Airlines plans to operate the 76-seat Q400s on domestic routes to destinations including Chittagong, Sylhet, Jessore and Cox’s Bazar.

But the airline has big plans for the future. In the second phase of its expansion it plans serve regional international destinations including Kolkata, Chennai, Yangon, Kathmandu, Colombo and Bangkok, while a third phase will see the launch of long-haul services using wide-body Airbus and Boeing jets.
