Army hopes to normalise law & order if election held

Bangladesh Army today said the law and order situation will return to normalcy if the planned national election in February is held, paving the way for their return to barracks.

“Like the country’s people, the Bangladesh Army is expecting a free, fair, impartial and festive election as per the government outline,” Army Training and Doctrine Command’s (ARTDOC) general officer commanding Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman told a media briefing at Dhaka Cantonment.

Five-bank merger to create strongest financial entity

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Ahsan H Mansur today said that the central bank has officially initiated a significant resolution process involving five commercial banks, marking the commencement of a planned merger intended to strengthen the country's banking system.
