Opus Technology Ltd, a leading software development firm headquartered in Bangladesh, has announced plans to establish a presence in Frederick County, Maryland, marking a strategic step in its global expansion.
The company will join the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. (FITCI) through its Soft Landing Programme, designed to support international businesses entering the U.S. market. The move is also backed by the Maryland Global Gateway programme, an initiative by the Maryland Department of Commerce aimed at helping foreign companies explore commercial opportunities across the United States.
“We are excited to join the FITCI community and call Frederick County our United States home,” said Jafar Iqbal, Managing Director and CEO of Opus Technology Ltd. “The county’s strong technology ecosystem, skilled workforce, and supportive business environment make it the ideal place for us to innovate and grow. From our very first meeting with the Director of Economic Opportunity at SelectUSA, we felt welcomed and supported. We look forward to collaborating with local entrepreneurs and contributing to the region’s dynamic tech economy.”
Opus Technology specialises in a broad range of digital solutions, including software development, mobile applications, web development, animation, gaming, and artificial intelligence. The company already operates in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, and its entry into the U.S. market signifies a further push to serve a global client base.
“With a focus on enterprise solutions and navigating the digital landscape, Opus Technology brings a wealth of expertise to FITCI,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “We are delighted to welcome this innovative company to Maryland and look forward to building strong partnerships with its headquarters in Bangladesh.”
FITCI’s Soft Landing Programme offers critical infrastructure, mentoring, and resources to ease the transition for international firms seeking to establish themselves in the U.S. It plays a key role in enabling such companies to scale effectively in a new market.
“We are thrilled to welcome Opus Technology into FITCI’s vibrant innovation hub,” said Kathie Callahan Brady, President and CEO of FITCI. “Their work underscores the transformative role technology plays in job creation and economic development. We’re confident that our collaborative environment will support their growth and strengthen Frederick County’s expanding tech ecosystem.”
Opus Technology’s expansion is expected to contribute positively to the local economy, further positioning Maryland as an attractive destination for global tech talent and innovation.
