None to remain homeless in country: reassures PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated her pledge that none would remain homeless and landless in the country, saying she considered power as a way to serve the people. "None will remain homeless, landless and without address in Bangladesh. We are working to implement that target," she said. She said this while virtually distributing 32,904 houses to the beneficiaries at 492 upazilas across the country in the third phase under the Ashrayan-2 Project, reports BSS. Kalabagan Tentultala playground protection movement: mother and son released 

Syeda Ratna and her youngest son, Isa Abdullah Sadekin Piyanshuk, were freed on bail by the police after they mounted a demonstration against the construction of the Kalabagan police station building at the Kalabagan Tentultala field in August.

Badi beats up two AL leaders

At a Teknaf Municipal Awami League extended meeting, former MP Abdur Rahman Badi and his brother Abdus Shukkur savaged two Awami League leaders in front of district leaders. They were beaten for opposing Badi.

The thrashing was captured on camera by Raja Shah Alam, vice-president of the district Awami League and leader of the Ukhia-Teknaf organising committee. The incident took place on  Friday, before Iftar, at a Teknaf Municipal Awami League extended meeting (April 22).

Is it a bridge or a suicide spot?

Suicide by leaping from the Postagola Bridge in Dhaka has been a common event for the people and the naval police over the last several years. According to police data, a total of 41 people have committed suicide by leaping from the bridge so far this year. On the other hand, police feel that there are more suicides that have not been recorded.

As per the police sources in Shampur and Keraniganj, there was an average of one suicide each year in 2021, 2020, and 2016. However, there were two suicides per year in 2019 and 2016. There have also been instances of suicide.
