BD’s prospect of regional transportation hub bright
One of the easiest ways to boost sustainable growth is promoting regional economic integration that facilitates freer movement of goods, services and investment, helping to achieve regional developmental objectives by creating jobs, according to the editorial of the current ICCB News Bulletin of International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh released today.
The geographical location between three major regions of Asia —South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia—provides a unique opportunity for Bangladesh to take advantage from cross-border movement of goods and services and investment flows.

Bangladesh woes weigh down on Iris Corp
Iris Corporation Bhd, which had been recently contracted to issue machine readable passports (MRP) in Bangladesh, has posted a pretax loss of RM17.04 million for the year ended March 31, 2015 – down from a pretax profit of RM35.09 million last year.
Alongside the heavy decline in profit, its revenue fell to RM564.49 million from RM573.24 million previously.

Freedom fighter commits suicide in city hotel
A freedom fighter reportedly committed suicide in a residential hotel at Topkhana Road in the city on Tuesday. The freedom fighter was identified as Aiyub Khan, 62, former commander of Satkania upazila Muktojoddha Sangshad of Chittagong.
Sources at the DMCH said Aiyub took poison inside his hotel room. It was discovered as the hotel manager informed Shahbagh police station that he was not responding to staff calling on his door.

Fincantieri to supply four OPVs to Coast Guard
Fincantieri has been awarded the contract with the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) for the supply of four Italian Navy “Minerva” class corvettes to be upgraded and converted into Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), and to provide the related logistics support services, the company said in its press release.
