Tenth International Plastic Fair is going to start here on Tuesday amid countrywide blockade and hartal.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the four-day fair in city’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). State Minister for Finance and Planning M A Mannan and FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed would also remain present.
Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (BPGMEA) has organized the fair.
BPGMEA President Jasim Uddin came up with the announcement of the fair at a press conference at BPGMEA office today.
He said the ongoing countrywide blockade and hartal is disrupting the normalcy of life as well as supply chain.
The plastic sector is incurring losses of taka 10-12 crore daily due to the blockade and hartal, he added.
The BPGMEA president urged all parties to ensure stability in the country for economic development.
A total of 50 stalls would be set up at the fair. Besides, a seminar on “recycling plastic waste” will be held.
