Security Council multilateral off-ramp is essential: Guterres
Strengthening international cooperation and delivering on a UN pact that calls for reforming global governance, among other measures, was the focus of debate in the Security Council on Tuesday.
The ministerial-level meeting was convened by China, which holds the rotating Council presidency this month, as the UN prepares to mark its 80th anniversary later this year.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres opened the debate emphasizing that “global solidarity and solutions are needed more than ever” as the climate crisis rages and inequalities and poverty increase.

Advanced mediation training for legal professionals ends
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) successfully completed Advanced Mediation Training for Legal Professionals, under the ‘Development of Mediation and Civil Litigation Practices for Enhancement of Access to Justice Project’ (A2J Project) in collaboration with the Law and Justice Division (LJD) of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) on at JATI. The training program included a range of practical and theoretical learning sessions designed to enhance the skills of legal professionals such as judges, legal aid officers and lawyers who are actively involved in the mediation process.
