Airtel to expand technology in rural Bangladesh

Airtel Bangladesh Ltd, the fastest growing telecom operator of the country, has partnered with Ministry of ICT to develop the capacity of youth. The company and MoICT had a discussion on Saturday about training the youth on mobile application development and thus enabling them to transit from freelancers to entrepreneurs.

MoICTThe project will be rolled out across all districts and Upazilas of the country phase by phase. Under this project Airtel Bangladesh may provide WiFi connectivity to specific MoICT suggested areas, says a press rlease.

Airtel Bangladesh Limited with its global expertise across 20 countries has stepped up to realize the vision of digital Bangladesh with MoICTs initiative. The concept of this initiative will also help popularize the existence of mobile services like mCommerce, mHealth, mEducation and mAgriculture. This program will help the youth to facilitate a smooth transition from freelancers to entrepreneurs.

The event chaired Dr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary of MoICT and Rajnish Kaul, Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Bangladesh Limited to exchange expertise for the success of this initiative.

Shyama Prasad Bepari, Joint Secretary of MoICT, Ashraful Haq Chowdhury, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Sandipan Chakraborty, Chief Technical Officer, Lutfor Rahman, Chief Information Technology Officer, Mir Nawbut Ali, Head of Marketing of Airtel Bangladesh Limited and high officials of ministry of Information and Communication Technology were also present at the MoICT office.
