Airtel Bangladesh Limited, the fastest growing telecom operator in Bangladesh, has launched its 3G service in Cox’s Bazar. Mr. Sarwar Kamal, Mayor of Cox’s Bazar officially inaugurated Airtel’s 3G service as the Chief Guest through a video call from Cox’s Bazar with Airtel’s CEO and Managing Director, Chris Tobit at Dhaka.
Cox’s Bazar Mayor said, “Introducing Airtel’s 3G services in Cox’s Bazaar will help boost the economy, education and tourism industry here and will act as a catalyst to broaden scopes of information and knowledge. Launch of Airtel’s 3G services will greatly strengthen the tourist community and help extend business opportunities in the region.”

We have already blanketed some of the most important cities of the country like Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Comilla, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Bogra. We are committed to cover the rest of the country’s divisional headquarters with 3G service by mid 2014.”
Special Guests Professor Quazi Mostain Billah, Vice Chancellor, Cox’s BazarInternationalUniversity, Mr. Abu Murshed Chowdhury, Vice President, Cox’s Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present at the event along with Airtel’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Rajnish Kaul and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mr. Ashraful Huq Chowdhury.
Mr. Sarwar Kamal, Honorable Mayor of Cox’s Bazar and the other distinguished dignitaries toured through 3G Experience Zone where they witnessed large files being downloaded at high speed, video streaming on YouTube, application downloads and fast internet browsing through Airtel 3G dongles. The also made a video call under Airtel network in Cox’s Bazar and interacted with a young university student through a 3G enabled device.
Airtel is set to introduce 3G services commercially in all divisional headquarters of the country by mid 2014.
