Airtel Bangladesh Ltd, the fastest growing telecom operator of the country, jointly unveiled the theme pneumonic for “Alponay Boishakh 1421” with Prothom Alo in association with Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited. This year’s theme pneumonic was designed by eminent artist Moniruzzaman. The unveiling took place at Manik Miah Avenue overlooking the National Parliament House. “Alponay Boishakh 1421” is going to kick off on the eve of Bangla New Year 1421, 13th April, 2014 to usher in Pahela Boishakh 1421.
During the unveiling, Rajnish Kaul, Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Bangladesh Limited was present along with prominent artists Qaiyum Chowdhury, Samarjeet Roy Chowdhury, Moniruzzaman, Ashok Karmakar , Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Motiur Rahman, Editor, Prothom Alo, Ali Zaker, Chairman, Asiatic3Sixty. The new design was unveiled by all the guests.
Celebration of Pahela Boishakh is at the heart of Ethnic Bengali cultural heritage. Every year Bengalis across the globe come together to celebrate Pahela Boishakh and usher in the new year irrespective of their religion, region, age and social standing. Celebration of Pahela Boishakh comes in various cultural activities like rallies, arts and craft showcasing and Bengali heritage fairs. Over the past two years it has been Airtel’s endeavor to celebrate the eve of the Bangla New Year with mega youth events to welcome the New Year and create direct association with the core of Ethnic Bengali Culture. Airtel had initiated project “Akbo Amra Dekhbo Bishwa” in Bangla year 1419 (2012) partnering with Prothom Alo and “Alponay Boishakh 1420” partnering with Prothom Alo and Berger last year. A massive Alpona was drawn on both sides of the Manik Miah Avenue. Presumably the largest Alpona was drawn last year which stretched over 300,000 sqft. This was an event that rejuvenated the Ethnic Bengali feeling among the Bangladeshis and flocked in people from all walks of life giving Bangladesh an unprecedented festive look. This year the Alpona promises to be even bigger and brighter in terms of color, festivity and youth participation.
The alpona of 1421 promises to be bigger and more artists are expected to participate in the event. Though prominent artists will lead the Alpona, anyone who wants to be a part of this historical occasion can join the celebration. Celebrations shall continue throughout the night. Like last year, the Alpona aims to showcase Bangladesh’s culture and heritage to the world. Manik Mia Avenue will turn into a celebration point like the previous year as thousands of people from all walks of life converge at the spot to participate in the drawing of the Alpona and welcome the Bengali New Year 1421
To usher in “Pahela Boishakh”, once again Airtel Bangladesh Ltd and Prothom Alo has taken the initiative of drawing alpona at Manik Mia Avenue in association with Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited. The theme pneumonic of “Alponay Boishakh 1421” has been revealed on April 8, 2014 by renowned artists like Qaiyum Chowdhury, Samarjeet Roy Chowdhury, Moniruzzaman, Ashok Karmakar ,and Rajnish Kaul, Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Bangladesh, Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Motiur Rahman, Editor, Prothom Alo, Ali Zaker, Chairman, Asiatic3Sixty. The drawing of alpona event “Alponay Boishakh 1421.” will take place at the historical Manik Mia Avenue on April 13, 2014 from 09:00 PM.
