Airtel to make Cox’s Bazar Digital Surfing City

Airtel Bangladesh Limited signs an agreement under Private Public Partnership with ICT Division of the ICT Ministry.

Airtel Bangladesh Limited, the fastest growing telecom operator of the country, in partnership with Bangladesh Computer Council, Information and Communication Technology Division of ICT Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance the global brand image of Cox’s Bazar, facilitate tourism and establish Cox’s Bazar as the Digital Surfing City through Private-Public Partnership.

This initiative will not only enhance the image of Cox’s Bazar, it will also align with government’s vision of Digital Bangladesh by facilitating advanced high speed internet experience throughout the city.

Present at the signing ceremony were, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, State Minister, ICT Division, Shyam Sunder Sikder, Secretary ICT Division and S M Ashraful Islam, Executive Director from ICT Division. PD Sarma, MD & CEO, Ashraful Haque Chowdhury, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Sandipan Chakraborty, Chief Technical Officer and Ms. Rubaba Dowla, Chief Service Officer from Airtel Bangladesh Limited;

In recent years Cox’s Bazar is steadily becoming a surfing destination for many a surfer both local and international. Many tourists and surfers come to Cox’s Bazar to see the World’s Longest Unbroken Beach and to challenge the white waves that crashes on to the pristine beach. This initiative will redefine Cox’s Bazar and create greater attraction among surfers and other tourists.

Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP and State Minister, ICT Division in his speech stated, “This is a path breaking and extremely innovative initiative for any Private-Public Partnership and I am glad to have Airtel Bangladesh as our partner to establish Cox’s Bazar as the eco-friendly Digital Surfing City of tomorrow.”
