10 BD students to receive training from Huawei Headquarters
Huawei, the world’s leading ICT solutions provider has announced 10 outstanding ICT talents from five renowned universities of Bangladesh. The champions have been announced in a virtually organized gala event for ‘Seeds for the Future 2020’, on September 02, 2020.
The event was started with the welcome speech of Chen Mingjie (Jay), Vice President, Huawei Asia Pacific Region with the presence of the Chief Guest Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP, Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, and the special guest, Beatrice Kaldun, Head of Office and UNESCO Representative to Bangladesh. Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd., and other officials of Huawei along with the champions also joined the event.

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 1 September 2020 at AIT campus, Thailand. Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Pro Vice-Chancellor, ULAB, and Dr. Eden Woon, President, AIT, Thailand signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. Professor Jayashree Roy, Bangabandhu Chair at AIT, facilitated the bridging of the two institutions.

BUET student Abrar murder charge hearing begins
A tribunal in Dhaka began framing of charges against 25 suspects over the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Abrar Fahad in October 2019.
Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka also set on September 9 for next hearing to complete the charge framing on Wednesday.

Sinha killers must be punished to stop repetition: Army chief
Exemplary punishment would be ensured for the perpetrators of the killing of retired major Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing to stop repetition of such incident against retried or serving military personnel, said Bangladesh Army chief General Aziz Ahmed on Wednesday.
After attending a military ceremony in Chattogram, he also said, ‘When any incident takes place, some quarters want to take undue privilege. Many have tried to do that and a few are still probably doing this.’

Outspoken Indian lawyer Bhushan fined one rupee for tweets
India's top court on Monday ordered a prominent lawyer to pay a fine of 1 rupee (less than 2 cents) after his conviction in a highly watched criminal contempt case that sparked a debate on freedom of speech and the independence of the judiciary in the world's largest democracy.
Prashant Bhushan, 63, was found guilty in August of criminal contempt for posting two tweets in which he criticised the Supreme Court's chief justice and said the courts had played a role in "how democracy has been destroyed in India" since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014.

Hindu widows will have the rights to both agricultural and non-agricultural lands that belonged to their husbands, The High Court yesterday ruled.
They will also get the right to sell the lands for legal necessities during their lifetime, the HC observed.
Interpreting the Hindu Women's Right to Properties Act, a judgment of Indian Federal Court in 1941, and Adaption Law of 1972, the court said no separation has been made between the agricultural and non-agricultural lands in Bangladesh, and so Hindu widows have rights to the lands of their husbands.
