Bangladesh, Slovenia ink MoU on FOC
Bangladesh and Slovenia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) to consolidate further the relationship between the two friendly countries in the political, economic and other fields.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Md. Shahriar Alam and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Ms. Darja Bavdaz Kuret signed the MoU on Friday at the “BRDO Convention Centre” in Ljubljana, according to a message received here today, reports BSS.

More than a million people have signed a petition calling for a second referendum, after “Leave” voters won a shock victory to pull Britain out of the European Union, an official website showed Saturday.

River eats up land, homes in Kurigram
Piyara Begum once had a happy life in Garuhara village by the Brahmaputra River in northern Bangladesh, but worsening erosion of the river banks has displaced her family seven times.
Now Piyara, 30, has taken shelter in Panchgachi village, 8 kilometres away in the same sub-district of Kurigram Sadar.
“I am always concerned about where Piyara and her three children are living, and how she manages her family expenses, as she has lost everything due to erosion,” said her uncle, Abdul Majid, who still lives in Garuhara village.
The loss of Piyara’s home is taking a toll on her mental and physical health, he added.
