Top US general in Dhaka
A top American general from the US Pacific Command arrived in Dhaka on March 24 for talks with senior Bangladeshi Army officers. His visit is seen as part of efforts to strengthen defensive measures along Bangladesh’s border with Myanmar’s Rakhine State, where military operations against the junta are expected to commence soon.

Starlink live internet connectivity show April 9
Starlink, the US telecom giant will provide live internet connectivity for a demonstration at Bangladesh Investment Summit on 9 April.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun announced during a press conference at Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy on Sunday.
The media briefing was arranged ahead of the "Bangladesh Investment Summit" scheduled to be held from 7-10 April at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka.
India lacked leverage to prevent Hasina’s ouster
India was aware of the growing anti-Sheikh Hasina sentiment in Bangladesh prior to the violent overthrow of her government on 5 August 2024, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar informed the Consultative Committee on External Affairs on 22 March 2025. However, he explained that India was unable to intervene due to a lack of significant leverage over Ms Hasina, who could only be "advised."
BNP backs judicial reforms, rejects some issues to change
BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed stated today (23 March) that the party is not in favour of altering the fundamental principles of the Constitution.
Speaking at a press briefing following a meeting with the National Consensus Commission at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Complex, Salahuddin expressed the BNP’s opposition to several proposed changes. Notably, the party rejects the recommendation to equate the 2024 mass uprising with the 1971 Liberation War in the Constitution.
