Axiata wins Best Telecom Group award    

Axiata Group Berhad has been named the best “Best Telecom Group of The Year” at the Frost and Sullivan’s 2014 Asia Pacific ICT Award for the 6th consecutive Year in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The prestigious award was presented to the telecom operator with presence in at least four Asia-Pacific markets, which has shown exemplary growth and performance last year in Asia Pacific through its investments in the region.

IMG_9104Axiata Group took home three awards in total, with XL Axiata winning the “Most Innovative Telecom Service Provider of the Year” and Dialog Axiata voted “Best Emerging Market Service Provider of the Year”.

“We are greatly honoured by the awards especially given the caliber of other players in the category.” Said Dato’ Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, President and Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Group.

“The awards are an acknowledgement of the continued success of the group’s operating companies in the region as well as an acknowledgement of its progress towards regional ambitions,” he added.

Meanwhile, Frost and Sullivan senior industry analyst for Asia Pacific ICT Practice Serene Chan said during the calender year 2013, the Axiata Group has successfully adapted to the changing needs of its customers.

Chan said as a result, it has the highest subscriber growth among all telecom groups in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The group’s proportional subscribers grew 22 per cent and proportional revenues grew 5.6 per cent at constant currency,” she said, adding “It showcased the highest operational profitability in the region by delivering earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin of 38.4 per cent.”

Chan noted Axiata’s units Robi, Dialog, Smart and Idea Cellular, in particular, showcased exemplary performance in their operating countries.
