Bangladeshi construction worker murdered in Kedah

A Bangladeshi worker was found dead with multiple slash wounds to his body at an unnumbered two-storey house in Kampung Batas, Jenalik near here.

A neighbour who regularly sent food to the victim is reported to have discovered his body at the upper floor of the house at about 8.30am, Tuesday.

SINGAPORE-CRIME-RIOTS-UNRESTThe neighbour, who declined to reveal her name, said the deceased – Daud Hossain, a construction worker in his 40s – had been missing for two days before Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Superintendent Police (Supt) Abd. Rahim Abdullah said police had received a call regarding the discovery at 11.05am, Tuesday and had dispatched a team to the scene.

“The deceased was found lying face-up in a pool of blood and covered by a blanket,” he said, adding that preliminary investigations had revealed slash wounds on the forehead and neck of the deceased.

Slash wounds were also found on the man’s stomach and left leg, he said.

Supt. Abd Rahim revealed that a butcher’s knife, believed to have been used to commit the crime, was found at the scene alongside a bloodstained “batu giling” (millstone).

The body of the deceased was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.

Police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
