CA leaves for Bangkok to attend BIMSTEC Summit

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed for Bangkok at 8:55 am (Thursday morning) by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight to attend the sixth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit.

Chief Adviser’s High Representative on Rohingya and priority issues Dr Khalilur Rahman informed that the BIMSTEC Summit 2025 will focus on seven key pillars of regional cooperation: Trade, Investment and Development; Environment and Climate Change; Security; Agriculture and Food Security; People-to-People Contact; Science, Technology, and Innovation; and Connectivity.

He said the Chief Adviser will hold bilateral talks with the leaders of BIMSTEC member states.

The High Representative said Prof Yunus will also be present at two MoU signing ceremonies during the summit.

On April 4, the BIMSTEC chairmanship will officially be handed over to Bangladesh Chief Adviser Prof Yunus, he added.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder were also present at the press briefing.

The BIMSTEC summit is being held in Bangkok, Thailand, from April 2-4.
