DGFI gets Maj Gen Faizur new DG

Maj Gen Md Faizur Rahman has been appointed the new director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), according to a media release of the Inter Services Public Relations issued today.

Maj Gen Md Nasim Parvez was made the Commandant of Military Institute of Science and Technology while Maj Gen Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud was made the new DG of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, it said.

Chief adviser to meet BNP leaders this afternoon

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Interim Government's Chief Adviser, is set to meet with senior BNP leaders at his residence on Monday around 4:00 PM. The meeting was confirmed by Sayrul Kabir Khan, an officer from the BNP Chairperson's press wing. BNP's standing committee members, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will attend the meeting at the invitation of Dr. Yunus. This meeting follows the formation of the interim government on August 8, after the ousting of Sheikh Hasina in the wake of a student-led mass uprising.

New law on how parties can do politics coming

Brigadier General (Retd) Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, announced today that an initiative has been launched to draft legislation regulating how political parties can operate within the country. Newly appointed Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and two more advisers to the interim government took oath at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Sunday. Interim government’s Chief Adviser Nobel Laureate Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today visited the house of Shaheed Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur (BRUR)killed in police firing during the student's quota reform movement, to console his parents.
