Potential savings of 21pc energy cost
Findings from DANIDA financed energy efficiency project show that Bangladeshi companies can adopt energy efficiency measures and save 16% of energy consumption, 21% of energy costs and lower their CO2 emissions by 18%.
This were revealed at a seminar titled “Bangladesh – A Great Potential for Energy Efficient Industry”, organized by The Energy Efficiency Engagement (3e) Program Secretariat in collaboration with Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at Hotel Six Seasons in the capital Dhaka.

Addressing growing speculation, Chevron said Thursday it would only proceed with a sale of its interests in Bangladesh if it can get a good value in return.
A spokesperson for Chevron confirmed to UPI that the company was in discussions to dispose of its interest in Bangladesh.
"At this stage, no decision has been made to sell our interests," the spokesperson said. "We will only proceed if we can realize attractive value for Chevron."

China's Jiangsu Etern Co Ltd signed a deal worth $1.1 billion to strengthen the power grid network in Bangladesh, the company said on Thursday, ahead of a visit to the country by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

KrisEnergy begins drilling at Bangora-6
Independent upstream oil and gas company KrisEnergy has commenced drilling at the Bangora-6 development well in the Block 9 production sharing contract, onshore Bangladesh.
The Bapex Bijoy 10 rig is being used to drill the Bangora-6 development well from the Golpanagar site in the northern section of Block 9, which is located approximately 50 km east of Dhaka.
The company plans to drill the well to a total measured depth of 3,786m.

GE to repower BPDB’s Ghorashal Station
GE (NYSE: GE), in a consortium with China National Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation, has been awarded a US$117 million order from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for repowering Unit 3 of the Ghorashal Power Plant, the largest power station in Bangladesh, located in the Narsingdi district. This will be the first repowering project for the country and will provide a much-needed increase in power generation capacity for Bangladesh by adding more than 200 megawatts (MW) of cleaner power to the national grid.
The project calls for repowering the existing 210 MW Power Machines (LMZ 200) steam
