Country’s state grains buyer issued another tender on Monday to buy 50,000 tonnes of wheat, the latest of a series, as it steps up efforts to build reserves, officials from the state agency said.
The imports are part of a plan by the Directorate General of Food,

the state agency, to ship in 900,000 tonnes of wheat in the current financial year that will end in June.
The deadline to submit offers under the latest tender is Jan. 22, with validity up to Feb. 5, and the wheat is to be shipped within 40 days of signing the contract.

Glencore International made the lowest offer of $279.75 a tonne in a tender to sell 50,000 tonnes of wheat to Bangladesh, an official from the state grains buyer said on Wednesday.
The only other participant in the tender, opened late on Tuesday, was Olam International, which offered $309 a tonne, including freight, insurance and other expenses.

Tea prices in Bangladesh fell at the weekly auction on Tuesday, snapping a seven-week run of gains, on subdued demand and lower supply of premier-quality leaf.

Bangladeshi tea fetched an average 191.02 taka ($2.40) per kg, compared with 192.96 taka at the previous sale, said an executive with National Brokers Ltd.
