PM seeks proactive Commonwealth role in removing inequalities
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the Commonwealth to take a pro-active role in removing inequalities and impediments to ensure justice in its member states with genuine global partnership for their real progress.
Stressing the importance of peace and genuine democracy for development, she said, “Increasing inequality of growth, impediments in the mobility of finances, goods and services, decreasing the role of the states in creating employments and under representation in global decision making process needs to be rectified with genuine global partnership based on justice and equal voice for real progress of the developing partners”.

Govt plans to develop 2,000 IT entrepreneurs
The government plans to develop 2,000 freelancers as entrepreneurs within six months by providing them with necessary IT training under Freelancers to Entrepreneurs Programme launched early this month, officials said.
They said the 2,000 freelancers have been selected from the 15,000 already developed freelancers under the Learning and Earning Programme of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, reports BSS.
"As many as 30 freelancers now engaged in outsourcing job from each district would be made entrepreneurs under the programme," ICT Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Khan said.

Agartala Check Post to be inaugurated on Nov 17
The inauguration of the Integrated Check Post at Agartala along the Akhaura-Agartala part of the India-Bangladesh border will take place on November 17, an official release of the High Commission of India said here today.
Sushil Kumar Shinde, Home Minister of India, Dr. Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, Home Minister of Bangladesh, Shajahan Khan, Shipping Minister of Bangladesh and Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura will jointly inaugurate the integrated check post (ICP).
The Agartala ICP houses all regulatory agencies including Immigration, Customs and border security forces, reports BSS.

Norwegian support sought for developing shipbuilding
President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday sought Norwegian support in shipbuilding and ship recycling sectors of the country.
He sought the assistance while newly-appointed Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh Merete Lundemo presented her credentials to him at Bangabhaban.
Welcoming the new envoy at Bangabhaban, the President appreciated Norwegian cooperation to Bangladesh in various sectors and hoped that it would be further increased in the days to come.

CSE signs joint communiqué with BCIM
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has signed a joint communiqué with BCIM, the sub-regional and economic cooperative block of Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar. This was signed while the CSE President Al Maruf Khan FCA participated at the BCIM Economic Corridor Connectivity Forum and the 12th annual meeting of the China Society of Logistics held at Fuzhou in China.
The contract will be placed soon in the China Foreign Ministry as the future course of action, says a press release.
