US intel warns of expansion of terror groups in BD
The U.S. intelligence chief said Tuesday efforts by Bangladesh’s prime minister to undermine the political opposition will probably provide openings for transnational terrorist groups to expand their presence in the South Asian country.
Director Of National Intelligence James Clapper questioned Bangladesh’s public insistence that the killings of foreigners were the work of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and are intended to discredit the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In written testimony to a Senate hearing on worldwide threats, Clapper noted the claims of

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, the Telenor Group said has released the results of its Safe Internet study. It found that more pupils in Bangladesh had experience online peer pressure, bullying or had carried out bullying, than those in Malaysia and Thailand. The study covered 1,510 pupils aged 12 to 18 in Bangladesh, 1,896 in Malaysia and 1,336 in Thailand, mostly in key cities.
Telenor found 49 percent of pupils in Bangladesh said they succumbed to at least one form of peer pressure, compared with 39 percent of Malaysian pupils and 35 percent of Thai students.

Bangladesh scraps China-proposed deep sea port
In yet another indication of improving Indo-Bangladesh ties, reports on Monday claimed that India may soon win a contract to build a port for Bangladesh, while the latter cancelled a deep sea port which was to be built by China earlier.

39 dead as migrant boat capsizes off Turkey
At least 39 migrants, including several children, have drowned trying to cross the Aegean Sea from Turkey to Greece, coastguards say.
More than 60 have been rescued from the sea near the Turkish resort of Ayvacik.
Local officials say they expect the death toll to rise when the capsized boat is searched.
Thousands of refugees and migrants continue to make the dangerous sea journey from Turkey to Greece to seek asylum in northern Europe.
