Banking system liquidity worries FBCCI
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) expressed its concern over the banking system liquidity generating from inertia of the businesses to invest in productive sectors.
“Although the target for the growth in private sector credit flow was fixed at 15.5 percent from July-December in 2013, the credit flow at that period was not that satisfactory due to the absence of proper infrastructure as well as business friendly environment caused by political uncertainty,” the apex trade body said in a statement on Thursday.
Traders buy 150,000t wheat from Indian
Three traders in Bangladesh have bought 150,000 tonnes of wheat from neighbouring India at prices ranging from $302 to $305 a tonne, including cost of delivery to Chittagong port, two sources said on Wednesday.
Bangladesh has turned to India for wheat supplies since New Delhi lifted a ban on exports in 2011.

BD man faces UAE court for molesting, injuring woman
A Bangladeshi expatriate faced a court in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday for allegedly molesting and injuring a Filipina waitress last September.
But the Bangladeshi, 25, denied the charges when he faced the Dubai Court of First Instance, according to a report on Gulf News on Wednesday. He had been accused of kissing and hugging the Filipina waitress on Sept. 28.

Political assassinations on the rise with 138 deaths in January
In an alarming development, politically motivated and extra-judicial murders are on the rise in Bangladesh.
According to police figures, between 6 January (the day after the elections) and today, at least 138 people were killed or found dead.

Decentralization of govt will be a priority issue, says Muhit
Finance Minister AMA Muhit said, the decentralization or devolution of the government will be one of the most important priority issues for the new government. As a consequence of it the citizens may watch separate District Budget for all districts of the country by the end of five year’s tenure of the government, he said.
