Govt forms judicial inquiry commission over Recent violence

The government has established a three-member judicial inquiry commission to investigate the recent incidents of violence, including deaths, sabotage, arson attacks, looting, criminal activities, and damages that occurred during the quota reform movement across the country from July 16 to 21. The commission is headed by Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman, with Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Mohammad Showkat Ali Chowdhury serving as its other members

HSC exams rescheduled again, starting August 11

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for August 4 have been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The information was disclosed in a notification signed by Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Dhaka Education Board. According to the notification, the postponed exams under all education boards will now commence on August 11. The new schedule for these exams will be announced later through a formal notice. Jamaat to be banned by Wednesday: Anisul

The government of Bangladesh is set to ban Jamaat-e-Islami through an executive order by tomorrow, announced Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Monday.

“The Prime Minister has ordered me to take steps in this regard by tomorrow. When you ban any party, you have to do it through an executive order. I would hold a meeting with the Home Minister in this regard a little later and would take a decision on legal ways to do this,” Minister Huq stated while addressing the press at the ministry.
