Voice access to nat’l information portal
Access2Information (a2i) has taken an initiative to provide easy voice access to the National Information Portal. Citizens from now on will be able to access all information available on the portal using mobile phone. In order to implement this initiative, an MoU was signed between a2i programme and Robi Axiata Limited at the conference room of Posts and Telecommunications Division at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Division, Begum Tarana Halim, MP was present on the occasion as the chief guest. Acting Secretary (Coordination and Reform), Cabinet Division, N M Ziaul Alam was present at the signing ceremony as the special guest.
IT freelancing grows in Bangladesh
Sultana Parvin is a mother of two living in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital. She is petite, soft-spoken and wears a colorful headscarf. She is also a star information technology (IT) freelancer in Bangladesh.
In 2014, Parvin was named Bangladesh’s top female freelancer in Bangladesh by BASIS, the country’s IT industry association. She has done more than 100 freelance IT jobs for clients around the world who hired her through websites such as ODesk and Fiverr.

Nat’l High School Programming Contest in Sylhet
The regional level contest of the ongoing National High School Programming Contest 2016 was held recently at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet. Under the chairmanship of Professor Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor, SUST the event was conducted. Famous writer and a distinguished faculty member of SUST Muhammed Zafar Iqbal also attended the programme.

Shore to Shore taps GT Nexus network
GT Nexus announced today that Shore to Shore Textiles, a manufacturer of men’s and women’s under garments based in Bangladesh, is tapping the GT Nexus network to obtain access to capital to fund its business and improve performance.
Shore to Shore Textiles faces payment terms as far out as 90 days when serving customers in the U.S. and Europe. The terms often strain the apparel exporter and outside financing is needed to support day-to-day expenses, such as salary.
