Mobile phone use cost will increase in the next fiscal as Finance Minister AMA Muhith proposed to hike the duty on SIM card-related services to 5 percent. Currently, there is a 3 percent supplementary duty on all kinds of mobile service use. In his proposed budget, Muhith set a 5 percent duty. As the deadline for completing biometric re-registration of SIMs nears, the leading mobile phone operator has launched a unique campaign to encourage its subscribers to comply with the government directive in this regard. The campaign offers incentives to each of its subscribers completing the biometric reregistration process within 16^th to 31^st May 2016 period. Every subscriber completing the process within this period will get 50 taka worth talk-time for free. The 50 taka talk-time can be used within a five (5) day period (From 12 to 5 pm). It gets more interesting with one subscriber winning 10,000 taka every hour (between 10 am to 8 pm on each day of the campaign period).
