Robi wins Axiata’s Nat’l Contribution Award
Axiata Group Berhad has recognized the outstanding contribution made by Robi towards development of the ICT sector in Bangladesh in 2015. The company was conferred the National Contribution award 2015 at the Axiata Senior Leadership Forum held recently. Among other awards, Robi was also recognized with the Best People Management Award for the 4th consecutive year for demonstrating excellence in People Management in Axiata Group.
Robi’s National Contribution award reflects the lead role played by the company in partnering with the government for the rapid realization of the Digital Bangladesh aspiration.

Affordable smartphone needed to boost net use
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim Yesterday (23 April) said they have urged finance ministry to review the tax and VAT structures on mobile handsets and accessories to make smartphone affordable to boost internet penetration.
“We’ve already sent a letter to finance division two days ago for considering tax and VAT structure on mobile handset before budget session to promote local manufacturer,” said Tarana Halim whiling addressing a discussion “Mobile Handset and its Role in Building Digital Bangladesh” as chief guest.
61m Internet users in March
Bangladesh ended March with 61.28 million active internet subscribers, up from 58.31 million internet subscribers at the end of February.
The country’s mobile internet base reached 58.04 million in March, up from 55.51 million inthe previous month, according to figures from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
