Chattagram Divisional Commissioner Md. Tofail Islam has joined as administrator of Chattagram City Corporation. After joining the City Corporation office at Tigerpass on Tuesday morning, the administrator exchanged views with the department heads of City Corporation. Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam briefed the administrator about the activities of City Corporation.
Administrator Md. Tofail Islam said in the meeting that effective steps should be taken to free Chattagramfrom flooding. Chattagram 
should be built flood-free by ensuring water flow through coordination between all related institutions including Chattagram Development Authority (CDA). The activities of keeping the city clean and bright should be strengthened. In particular, by strengthening the administrative discipline and chain of command among the officers and employees of City Corporation, we should move forward in providing the highest quality services to the citizens.
There should be communication so that the organization is not damaged due to any kind of internal conflict. “Necessary measures should be taken to deal with the current threat of dengue. Mosquito control activities should be strengthened by gathering the necessary equipment. It should be ensured that there is no shortage of mosquito killers. The people should also be involved in this work. If necessary, mobile courts should be used to control the source of mosquitoes. Emphasizing on waste management, the administrator said that some of the city’s wastes are outside the scope of the management and are damaging the environment. For this reason, the supervision should be increased to see if the clean activities are being done properly, whether people are working. The income here is spent on the services of the city dwellers. If the income is not adequate, then the people cannot be served. For this reason, steps must be taken to increase the revenue income.
To work on improving the quality of service in the education and health institutions run by City Corporation. The administrator said that if the regional executive officers can be mobilized, the city residents will no longer have to come to the head office of City Corporation to receive various services. For this, service activities should be managed and monitored by distributing the regions among the regional executive officers as soon as possible. “Among the people, the flow of information should be increased. For this, City Corporation website should be updated and all necessary information should be provided.
Monitoring should be increased to ensure the quality of development work. It should be ensured whether the contractor has delivered the goods properly, followed the instructions or not.” City Corporation Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Amin, First Clean Officer Commander LatifulHaqueKazmi, Deputy Secretary Abul Hashem, Chief Education Officer Saiful Islam, Chief Engineer ShaheenUl Islam were also present in the meeting.
