Country’s two biggest online classified marketplaces, Ekhanei.com and OLX.com.bd, are set to merge into a single platform. The Ekhanei.com brand will be used for the merged company, Dhaka Tribune reports. Ekhanei.com managing director Arild Klokkerhaug confirmed the deal. After completing all procedures for the merger, which will take more than a month, the new company will be the most-viewed classified marketplace in Bangladesh.
The merger follows an agreement between Ekhanei’s parent company Telenor to partner in the classifieds market with Schibsted Media Group and Naspers. The venture in Bangladesh will be 50.3 percent owned by SnT Classified, an equal shareholding joint venture between Schibsted and Telenor, and 49.7 percent by Naspers, the parent company of OLX.com.bd.
