DCCI to be pvt sector partner of WB

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) will be one of the private sector partners of Water and Sanitation Program of World Bank (WB) at the Water Hackathon, App festival (Bangladesh Part) to be held in the mid of next January in Bangladesh.

DCCI-logo DCCI has signed a deal to this effect on Monday with the Water and Sanitation Program-South Asia (WSP), World Bank, at the DCCI office in the capital.

DCCI President and Chairman of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Expo Md Sabur Khan and Communications Specialist of WSP Mirva Moilanen signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides, said a DCCI press release.

According to the agreement, the DCCI will be one of the private sector partners of Water and Sanitation Program of World Bank. The Water Hackathon, App festival (Bangladesh Part) will be held in mid of next January, 2014 in Bangladesh.

One of the main purposes of the festival is to help improve Bangladesh’s water and sanitation problems including poverty alleviation and education through entrepreneurship and ICT.

Whatever solutions will come out of the Water Hackathon, App festival, those will be marketed to the root level.

DCCI has the expertise in entrepreneurship development whereas WSP has the expertise of developing the water and sanitation sector. As per the agreement, the DCCI and WSP will share their expertise in developing entrepreneurs who may have contribution to the grass-root level.

Consultant of WSP M Umar Khaiyam Bin Alam, DCCI vice president Absar Karim Chowdhury, directors Haider Ahmed Khan, Abul Hossain, Shahidul Islam and Alhaj Abdus Salam and Co-convener Khair M Khan were present at the signing ceremony.
