A two-day long DenimsandJeans.com show begins today (March 1, 2015) at Hotel Radisson in Dhaka, aiming to help increase exports of denim apparel from Bangladesh.

GmbH, which works with the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is the technical partner of this event.
Twenty-six companies from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and China are participating in the exhibition to showcase their denim trousers, fabrics and modern machinery. It will also highlight the flamboyance of the industry.
The event will remain open only for invitees from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, on March 1 &2, 2015.
Dr. Ferdinand Von Weyhe, Charge d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Dhaka inaugurated the exhibition on March 1, 2015 (Sunday). Mr. A.K.M. Salim Osman, MP, President, BKMEA and Tapan Chowdhury, President BTMA were also present on the occasion as special guests.
Different brands, buying houses, apparel entrepreneurs, fashion professionals, stakeholders and companies related to technology, chemicals and piece dyes of the industry from Europe, USA, UK and several Asian countries are the invitees at the event.
Sandeep Agarwal, initiator of the show, said, “Our endeavor is to ensure that the Denimsandjeans.com Bangladesh show enables to bring increased focus of international buyers for their mass and niche needs to textile and apparel.”
Recalling the first and second shows, which were held in 2014, he said this event is an extension of those and brings all stakeholders together again. Sandeep Agarwal has been associated with the denim industry for 20 years and the show is named after his denim website www.Denimsandjeans.com.
The show will bring some of the most important personalities involved with denim worldwide and help bring further focus on the denim industry in Bangladesh. There will also be a denim fashion show – FASHIONIM- which will highlight the flamboyance of the industry.
The show is also inviting reputed denim experts from Europe and US including Adriano Goldschmied, the founder of Diesel, to share their vast knowledge on denim industry.
On the second day of the show, a panel discussion will be organized by GIZ on “Development Prospects in Denim Production- the Way Forward.” The discussion will address the environmental and occupational health issues involved in denim manufacturing and the prospects and opportunities for development. Ready-made garments (RMG) factory owners, brands, technical experts and chemical suppliers will participate as panelists in this discussion
