Digital Lifestyle dawns on Barisal Youth

With the growing use of internet in the country, people up and down the country are increasingly using internet as a tool to step into the world of digital lifestyle. While it is welcome news for the ongoing digitalization, it has been observed that due to lack of awareness on the proper and effective use of internet, many of us are failing to capitalize on its full potential.

Leading mobile phone operator has come forward to address this missing link by undertaking a Corporate Responsibility (CR) titled Internet4U. Recently a couple of sessions under this Internet4U @ Barisalinitiative were held at two of the most prestigious educational institutions at Barisal. Around 180 young male and female students from Amrita Lal Dey College and the University of Barisal took part in these interactive sessions.

Online education platform- “10 Minute School” was introduced to the gathered students at the Internet4U sessions. They were informed that students could check their knowledge under different curriculum and take part in mock admission tests in just 10 minutes using this platform. Besides, students got to acquaint themselves with the popular knowledge based online lecture platform TED Talks enabling them to unleash their potentials by learning from the innovators and thinkers around the world.

Lifestyle of famous people who changed their life with hard-work was also discussed at the sessions. Students were asked about which famous people they liked and why they liked them and using the internet the students came to know about how they changed their fate. Also, issues relating to the safe use of internet were highlighted to that both students and parents are aligned on safe browsing. They were encouraged not to hide anything from their parents rather they were urged to involve their parents into internet browsing so that a safe virtual environment remains in focus.

Commenting on this initiative Robi’s Vice President for Communications and Corporate Responsibility said that: “We were highly encouraged with the active participation from the youth of Barisal at the Internet4U sessions. Youth’s enthusiasm for internet is an asset for the country. As a responsible operator, we would like to channel this positive energy around internet in the right direction.”
