edotco Bangladesh, the country’s first infrastructure service company, signed a tripartite agreement with Robi and Qubee on Monday ( September 1) at the Robi Corporate Office, in Gulshan.
The agreement will enable Qubee to roll out faster and build a cost-effective network nationwide with the help of edotco Bangladesh. According to agreement, Qubee will be sharing passive infrastructure with edotco to expand their coverage area.
Mr. Supun Weerasinghe CEO & Managing Director of Robi Axiata Ltd, Mr. Yap Wai Yip, Acting Managing Director of edotco Bangladesh, and Mr. Faisal Hyder, CEO of Qubee, inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Mr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui, Director, Sales & Business Development, and other high officials from edotco Bangladesh, Qubee and Robi Axiata Ltd were present at the signing ceremony.
edotco is the first independent communications infrastructure service company in Southeast Asia, providing end-to-end infrastructure solutions to telecom and non-telecom operators, with a portfolio that includes tower, energy, transmission and operations/maintenance.
Robi Axiata Limited is a joint venture between Axiata Group Berhad, of Malaysia and NTT DoCoMo Inc, of Japan. Robi is the second largest mobile phone operator in Bangladesh in terms of revenue, with over 24 million subscribers, as of June 2014. Robi network provides nationwide coverage to nearly 98% of the population with more than 9,450 2G sites and more than 1,430 3.5G sites. Robi proudly claims to have the widest international roaming service in the market, connecting over 500 operators across 207 countries.
It is also the first operator in the country to introduce GPRS and 3.5G services in Bangladesh. The Company has introduced many first of its kind digital services in the country and has invested heavily in taking mobile financial services to the underserved communities in the rural and semi-urban areas.
