EU keen to finance developing skill of migrant workers

The European Union is keen to finance the government projects to be taken for the skill development of the outbound migrant workers.

euEU’s keenness was conveyed by its ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon in a meeting with expatriates welfare and overseas employment minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain at Prabasi Kalyan Bhaban on Sunday.

After the meeting, Mosharraf told reporters that the EU expressed their keenness to provide financial supports to run the programmes to enhance working skill of the workers.

Apart from existing 70 technical training centres, the government has decided to set up TTCs at each upazila, the minister said, adding that about Tk 15,000 crore would be required in this regard.

Through establishment of the training centres, the government would prepare skilled workers by providing them proper training, so that they could get jobs at the developed countries as per their requirement, he said.

The ministry secretary Khandker Md Ifthekhar Haider and Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training director general Shamsun Nahar, among others, were also present on the occasion.
