Ex NBR chief Abdul Mazid elected as CSE Chairman

The Board of Directors of Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd (CSE) has unanimously elected former NBR Chairman Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid as the Chairman of CSE in line with the Exchanges Demutualization Act 2013.

Dr. Mazid CSE ChairmanMazid is the Chief Coordinator of Bangladesh Diabetic Samity in Dhaka. He started his career with Bangladesh Bank and joined Bangladesh Civil service as BCS Audit and Accounts cadre in 1981.

Prior to retiring as the secretary of Internal Resource Division (IRD) under Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR), this veteran diplomat had worked in many senior roles of the public services. He was a member in the Planning Commission, Deputy Secretary of MoF, Director of Board of Investment (BoI) and Economic Relations Division and Chief Accounts Officer of IRD. He has over 28 years experience of working in public finance sector.

Majid is a resource person in the Govt. training academies i.e. Bangladesh Public Administration Academy, National Defense College, Civil Service College, Bangladesh Bank TrainingAcademyetc. Apart from showing excellence as a public servant, Mazid has proved his skill in writing as well.

He authored 20 books on Bengali literature and socio-economic condition of Bangladesh. He is a member of the Governing Board of Human Development Foundation and Banlgadesh NGO Foundation. He is the former treasurer of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh and Dhaka Ahsania Mission.
